Re: Royal Melbourne Show 2012
I can't imagine the showies would be happy with this arrangement. There's nothing I like more than checking out the carnival at night after the fireworks or even while they're on. I think this is a bad thing for Melbourne Show.

Loved your review!
I noticed the same problem with Hangover at RES and Hawkesbury and it wasn't running long cycles as a result I think but the hang time was unbelievable as usual...
Also agree with you about Crazy Coaster, one of my favourites for sure!

Re: First upside down ride?
My first upside Down experience was on Rock-n-Roll and it blew me away at the time! Hangover is probably a good ride to start on as it offers loads of upside down time as well as a familiar swinging ship action so you'll have plenty of time to get used to it. Then you could try Free Style, XXXL and ...

Re: Rare Luna Park Sydney 1978 Footage
Awesome! A shame for me the vids are silent but I'm sure they're great to look at. I remember Manly Fun Pier as a kid, my first ride on the Sizzler I think! Didn't get to LPS until the 80's and although many people think of that time as bad for the park, it was halfway decent, much like a carnival r...

Great as usual! I would be surprised if the Claw was on this year but you never know I suppose. Also the same about Thunderbolt.
Maybe heading over for this one as I may have some work to do in Adelaide fingers crossed.

A shame Sky Flier is not in the main carnival area as the atmosphere is great when surrounded by other rides and games. Hopefully the new location is good as well.

Re: Greetings from Europe,
Glad to hear you're having a great time on those legendary machines. Your trip reminds me of a similar one I did to the US some years ago. Probably similar rides too although you don't see too many Mondial traveling models in the States. My dream is to do Europe and make a comparison on amusement pa...

Not a bad ride IMO, very random and as the name suggests, chaotic. The experience varies in intensity.

I'd love to do a tour of the country like that! I don't doubt the show industry is hard work though.

Am I gaim enough to try the Zipper without holding on? I'll give everything a go once but I don't fancy doing it for long. That ride is nuts!

Re: 2 Carnivals & Ekka
Yes you're right. Until a few years ago Easter carnivals used to run at Merrylands, St. Marys and I am fairly sure there used to be one in the Liverpool area too. Just outside Sydney, there was Gosford, the Entrance and Newcastle Foreshore. These days it's the RES and Sydney family Show and not much...

Re: 2 Carnivals & Ekka
Sydney usually has several carnivals operating at the same time as RES due to the Easter long weekend but most are fairly small; still a lot of fun though and often a good chance to ride classics such as Hurricane and Tilt.

Re: Trip
Yep Luna Park Sydney is the same as far as atmosphere goes. Most rides there do play music but definitely not loud enough and only when the operator thinks to turn it on or perhaps it has to do with the hours they are allowed to play it... An exception to this is the Tango Train which does have an o...

Re: Rockhampton Show
The worst thing is it's not just confined to the rides and games but in the catering as well. I get thoroughly sick of being yelled at to try delicious American doughnuts and Choc Bananas in robotic voices. It doesn't make me hungry somehow! I often feel sorry for the workers behind the counter. The...

Re: Most Memorable Ride Moment
I enjoy some of these topics Mixerholic! I guess some that stand out for me include my trip to World Expo 88. The amusement park wasn't all that special by today's standards and even back then, Dreamworld and Wonderland featured more rides but you just knew that being there was a once in a lifetime ...

[quote="Top Gunner14"]If a showmen has the ground ofcourse they'll put up their own ride. Not all the time they bother about doubles they're there to earn money aswell as the same operator with the same machine. We used to get 3 Zipper's at Hawkesbury, few years ago had 3 Kamikaze type rid...

Re: Sunshine Coast Show (Nambour)
Cheers for the reviews!
Sounds like an awesome show but a pity about the lack of riders. It's disappointing because operators won't continue coming back if people aren't interested in attending the show and doing the rides. I guess the crook economy is biting.

Re: Spotted on the Move
Sounds like a nice show. It is common for two or more of the same ride to appear on the midway at one time. The number of dogem cars showing up to each show is a prime example! I've been to shows that feature at least two Cha Chas, Hurricanes although this is becoming less common, Ali Babas, Wave Sw...

Yep have a great time Huss. Can't wait for your updates and hopefully videos? Would love to take a look at the super versions of No Limit and Space Roller; not sure whether I would have the stomach to ride but would hopefully get a chance.
