Narrabeen Xmas Carnival 08/09 Review + Pics

Post by Paulie123 »

Hey everyone. Just got back from narrabeen. Heres my review :D

It was a pretty small carnival.. It wasnt even as big as the fishers ghost. But the lineup was a bit better with Flashdance, Hard Rock, Zipper, Cha cha, Dodgems and Super Trooper.

Ridecount:
Hard Rock - 3
Flashdance - 1
Zipper - 2

HARD ROCK:

Exellent ride. Havent been on it for years and ive forgotten how good it acually is. The weightlessness when your at full swing is amazing. Love it. Had all the lights going. Strobes. As well as a fog machine. It was good. Rode it 3 times, loved it more and more each time. 8/10

ZIPPER:
What a ride.. Have only ever been on the bad ass and now davis and i must say davis impressed me much more. Cycle isnt as long as it is on the bad ass for sure but the cages flipped way more and getting thrown around the edge was so intense so it was worth it. Going backwards getting flipped over was really awesome. I could feel myself being almost crushed into the seat. Haha. Not quite. But VERY VERY INTENSE. Going forwards was also really great, but its alot scarier when you cage doesnt flip. You get faceplanted. Its another extreme experience. I went on twice in a row. Loved it. I would love to see davis' zipper at RES. Definately a.. 10/10 Exellent ride :D

When I arrived i was shocked to see the zipper like this..

But 20 or so minutes later.. Phew.

FLASHDANCE:
Fun ride.. Didnt seem to be operating as fast as it was last time i rode it. But it was a good long cycle. Lights were all going, lots of jingles. Only 1 person working on it but? Same guy who took my ticket.. Locked me in.. Then operated. Does flashdance usually only have one op? Iunno. I thought there would be at least 2. Anyway, it was really fun. Nice high half loop things. The guy in front on me wasnt looking to good when he got off. Haha. Looked asthough everyone had hangovers. The op of the zipper looked pretty sick. Same with alot of riders.

Thats about it... Each ride was $7. Some of the others that i didnt go on were $6 like super trooper, dodgems and cha cha. Free entry, some dagwood dogs, awesome slurpees. I really reccomend going to anyone that lives close enough. Its really fun. I was really surprised with Davis zipper. So much fun. 2 was enough for me but.. Started to feel abit light.. Lol. Didnt get sick at all but.. Saw people getting off after one spin and they needed to lay down on the grass. Haha. They didnt believe i went on 2 in a row. I bet people on here have done more than 2 in a row but. :o Haha. Thanks for reading everyone. Youtube video : coming soon. :D

Good to hear you had a good time and one hell of a Zipper ride. I must say that Davis unit has a great combination of presentation and a great fast ride! Thanks for the pics Paulie and the vid.

Paul, Each to there own opinions. I for one would love to be able to go down to Rye to go on all the classics. Hurricane, Midnight Madness, Pirate and the rest. NOT the Ferris Wheel though!

It's a HUSS ride, dude you have no idea what HUSS RIDES are to the world, let alone Australia. They are truly gems, no matter how extreme, or tame they are, we are damn lucky to have them here!

I 110% Agree with HUSS here. When you think about it... what was the inspiration for the ALI BABA'S we have in Australia that are so successful? A HUSS Rainbow! Pirate Ship's are also very popular for Theme Parks and Various travelling carnivals, and who created those first? HUSS. (Intamin's LOOPING Starship may have been before the HUSS ones but not 100%)

Even BreakDances fall into this category too. The Sobema's, Fabbri's and even Nautia Bussnik created copies of the rides and each added there own little twists to them to make them as successful as they are today. Weather it be lifting Sweeps like seen on Several Fabbri units as well as Sobema's, to even INVERTING cars like on the Mondial Shake. HUSS were truly the innovator's of their time, so saying that they are crap and have no value to the market is a severley wrong understatement.

Other rides we would Probably NOT have if it wasn't for HUSS Rides Inspiration:

Hard Rock (Johnsons Amusements)
Claw (Dreamworld)
Wipeout (Dreamworld)
Reef Diver (Dreamworld)
Cyber Party (Trindall's Amusements)
BreakDance (Amusements Australia, Lauries Amusements)
Spin Dragon (Wittingslow Amusements)
Ali Baba / Midnight Madness Rides (Gills, Marshals and John Phelan)

Just looking at that list alone, you can see how much of an inspiration HUSS rides have been to the amusement industry.

But have you BEEN on all of the HUSS Originals?

You have probably been on Rainbow, Tumble Bug, Ranger and maybe the Enterprise. But what about a HUSS Top Spin, Frisbee and any of the other rides that HUSS make. Sure the newer versions might be better than the originals. But if it hadn't been for the originals would those "better" rides have even been made?

Paulie, it's kids like you that have no idea about a classic ride, nor good engineering.
Oh well, can't please them all I guess. But good try
