Daredevil squirrel kicked off rollercoaster

A British amusement park has taken drastic steps to ban an adrenalin junkie squirrel from riding its roller-coaster.

The daredevil rodent shocked employees at Staffordshire's Alton Towers when it began climbing on the tracks and hitching lifts on the renovated Sonic Spinball during testing.

The squirrel, which has since been nicknamed Sonic after the blue video-game hedgehog, even jumped on board as members of the public were invited onto the thrill ride ahead of its official reopening two days ago.

''It was getting in the way of builders who were painting," the UK Telegraph newspaper reported an Alton Towers spokesperson as saying.

''They couldn't carry on because they would end up with paw prints in the paint.

''And we can't have anything on the track when the roller-coaster is going around.''

But the amusement park has brought in a secret weapon to deny Sonic any future joy rides.

An alarm that emits a high-pitched sound, inaudible to the human ear, has been installed to scare away the bushy-tailed rodent.

''Unfortunately Sonic's behaviour is a danger both to our guests and himself and so we're doing all we can to ensure that he stays away from the ride," Alton Towers sales and marketing director Morwenna Angove was quoted as saying.

Yes it would've been a funny sight for sure. Perhaps the bird will try one of the flat Alton Towers rides next time!
