Well the Gympie Show is on in just over 1 month's time. as you can tell I'm getting excited already. This year being the 125th running of the gympie show i am hoping we Will get a awesome alley this year. yet unfortunately we do have to compete with Ipswich and Paniyri now on the same weekend with getting rides. what are your thoughts and what do you think/know is coming this year.

P.S. will post a thread just about rides that are there when the time comes

Did the showground suffer any damage during the recent floods? I know part of it was heavily used for an evacuation centre.

benclare yes the showground was used for the evacuation centre during the floods but no floods didnt really do any damage to the ground only flash flooding did but that was all, the show this year will probably be the same as last year in rides im guessing because ipswich isnt known to have the people show up there because of other shows like EKKA but im just hoping its as good as last years one Gympie is...

they use the main pavilion for the southside evac center which is owned by the council the only part of the grounds that suffered damage was the horse track from the amount of rain but no actual flood damage

entry prices for this year

found out trading hours for show holiday (Friday) this year 5:30 closing which will mean numbers will pick up a little later than they normally do but they are conducting the Great Cash Giveaway a little differently still have to send in your five tokens from the Gympie Times with your entry but instead of drawing a key every week for about 6 weeks prior to the Show and then drawing two additional entries Thursday and Friday with opening after Friday's recipients have presented themselves. they are calling out a name every hour from 12Noon to 6PM each day and you have 1 hour to present yourself at the secretary's office with safe opening at 6PM each night. Will be a good incentive to get more people out to the show during the daytime

yeah there is no such thing of an holiday in this region now cause of trading hours have changed, hours are now on public holidays 8:30am to 5:30pm and i dont think this will affect the show this year because not many people work on a holiday because of pay rates and stuff, so expect great crowds all 3 days, hopefully its better then last years one... weather so far is looking great for all 3 days so that will be great for the crowds, i just hope it doesnt change...

hopefully rides will run into the night Saturday because there will be a full ring program Saturday as the rodeo is being held in it's own ring instead of the main arena which it has been held in for forever

Confirming that March's Hurricane will be at Gympie, will be working on it too (not sure doing what just yet)

Not a bad turn out really... am a bit surprised to see SPACE ROLLER showing up here though! Did it attend last year's Gympie show?

russell's dad brian owns the kamikaze his uncle paul doesnt own that kamikaze and he owns other rides too so yes his cousin wade owns the claw yeah lots of watkins own different rides

What is darkride?

Darkride is kinda like a scary house, like the Ghost Pirates ride we see at the show, this year its the second time it has attended Gympie...

well today was rain filled but stopped just in time for the rides to open and have been pulling good numbers all night. ringside was not so good with only one of the programed nightime events taking place. i would also like to congratulate Steve Simpson (steve07) for winning 2K in tonight's Great Cash Giveaway

Due to unforeseen circumstances please don't come visit me on the Hurricane as I am not there

Hope the show goes well though and if anyone's taken any pictures it would be great to see!
