Re: New Member guys ! And Info on Brookfield Show !
Yep agree about the Claw which is nauseating IMO but a lot of fun too. It sure was a sensation when it debuted in 2000.

Re: Crackerjack Carnival 2012
Am yet to do Free Style so I am interested in the comparison between it and Speed. Is Free Style a newer model that makes a sound like New Zealand's Turbo Boost? Speed is quiet as a mouse, even when you are riding except for the wind rushing through your ears of course.

Re: Info On Our Matterhorns
I think I have ridden every Matterhorn type ride in Australia and for atmosphere, Matterhorn takes the cake or at least it did, speed would have to be Thunderbolt but only slightly more than Rock-n-Roll IMO. The cars on Thunderbolt definitely swing more which is an extra thrill. My first ever Matter...

Yes welcome and great first post! I'm sure you will learn a lot about the amusement industry as I have since joining AAF some ten years ago.

I think Sobima made Alpine Express too.

All I know is I could sit on that ride all day and not get sick of it; so much fun!

Re: What's Your Top Ten Rides?
Too true. When LPS first installed the Breakdance in 95, it ran at full speed and gave a great ride cycle. Most of the park's rides run at slower speeds now IMO. Even the Tango Train only runs at full speed for a very short time and the Ranger only fully inverts once or twice and doesn't stay upside...

Re: New rides for this year's shows
Interesting about the Super Loop returning! I have fond and very scary memories of this ride, first at the Easter Show and then Darling Harbour where it operated until 1994 in the small Wittingslow Amusement Park along with Disco Train, UFO, Tristar and Galaxy Roller Coaster. I doubt the Loop will d...

Re: What Rides Do You Hate?
I don't think I hate any rides either. I always give everything a go once and then just pick the ones I like best next time I'm at the carnival or amusement park. The only ride I could say I disliked was the Scorpion and even then it was one particular ride as I have had good times on it too. Not lo...

Re: What's Your Top Ten Rides?
Love all the rides mentioned here. The Sobima Breakdance is much better and faster than the Huss one operating at Luna Park but I know the Huss model is capable of going much faster. The one that used to run at Astroland in New York, for example was equivalent, if not faster than Sobima's.

Re: Wittingslow's Rides Squash at Lygon Street on Argyle Squ
Would love to see Pirate and of course Rainbow back on the show circuit.
Did Wittingslow Amusements ever own Python Loop and Splash Canyon? I thought they did but I could be wrong. I'm also thinking they owned the Yoyo before it went to Tomteland with OFA. Does anyone know for sure?

Re: What Was Your Favourite Experience From Luna Park?
I have fond memories of both Luna Parks. Melbourne would have to be riding the wooden Big Dipper in the late 80's and being pleasantly surprised at the reopening of LPS in 95 when the former World Expo Ranger was first installed and of course the current Dream World Cyclone. I was invited to the big...

When you get your Rainbow going Huss, be sure to get rid of the seatbelts and just stick with the original lap bar. It's better I reckon.

I'm still yet to ride this one and it sounds like I'm missing out on something special! Will definitely give it a go if I happen to attend an event where it is.

Was just browsing You Tube and came across this nice video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vna1DptuKas
It appears to feature Rock-n-roll, Extreme and a bit of Pirates Revenge I think.

Let's hope the moving of the showbags fixes the awful problems of last year. Also, it's worth hoping for the return of No Limit and possibly Thunderbolt.

Yes Dubbo is on that weekend too and usually has a good line-up so it'll be interesting to see what ends up where.

Thanks for that info. As I said, it was a shame there wasn't a Hurricane at Hawkesbury; at least the Cha Cha was there.

Re: 2012 Hawkesbury Show
Popped in for a little while this morning and the line-up was far down on previous years with an over representation of sideshows, jumping castles, dogem cars and those balls that are blown up and thrown into a pool of water with someone inside. I've forgotten the name of this attraction but there w...

Well done Huss! I agree with you about the RES carnival losing some of its magic but IMO, it's still one of the best and I just love the atmosphere when I'm there. Even when I'm living overseas, I make the trip back just to go to the Royal Easter Show. People think I'm crazy but that's just me!

Good to hear the Claw wasn't scrapped or sold overseas. IMO it's a pretty good ride. I remember it was a sensation when it debuted in 2000.

NL is always intense for me; you're definitely made of something stronger Huss!
Will be at Hawkesbury early on Friday and as No Limit is usually one of the first to open, I'll most probably have a go. Perhaps I'll be the only one on it!
