Re: Rainbow's End New Zealand

I happened to be in Auckland last week and managed to pop into Rainbows End for a while on Wednesday afternoon. Overall I was impressed with the park which reminded me of Luna Park Sydney despite the differing selection of rides. It was attracting a fair number of people for the holidays too despite...

New thrill ride opens this weekend!

Dream World's newest ride, a Zamperla Air Race will open on Saturday. I assume they will use the thrill ride cycle as this one can also be a family ride. Can't wait to try it!

Would love to see it travel, perhaps doing the West Coast or go into Luna Park Sydney. Not much hope of either I suppose.

Ten years and counting!

On this very day ten long years ago, I signed up for the newly created forums on Australian Amusement Fanatics. Since then, this site has been on top of my Favourites list and the knowledge I have gained from fellow ride enthusiasts has been amazing! I think I was one of the first to create an accou...

Re: Fishers Ghost 2012

I don't think Ranger will be back at RES next year. I think that spot will be taken by Hangover for the foreseeable future but I could be wrong. As for Love Express, I remember seeing it at the Fairfield Markets back in 2003 and it was in much better shape then. I imagine the expensive purchase of t...

Much thanks as usual TG.

I think Ranger still needs some serious work done on it as does Love Express.

Also good to see Ranger is back in action after some issues recently.

Re: Ferris wheel

Yes I understand this is the case. I'm quite a fan of the Luna Ferris Wheel which is left over from the old Harbourside Fun Park of 1982. The carriages are similar to the Skymaster Wheel I think or at least they feel similar inside.

Yep definitely a great regional show and quite popular too I believe.

Albury is on in the next few weeks and that usually has a good line-up as well.

Not sure whether I'd have the personality but I would love to work a joint and reckon I could do it. Taking tickets is also possible but operating a ride, not for me... I'll stick to being a passenger I think!

Re: Jubilee Amusements

Yes well done! The amusement industry is good at putting on charity events. When I was at school, Goldenway used to set up at the Variety Club Christmas party for kids with disabilities. Seeing the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre packed with awesome rides was a hoot let me tell you! Also, operator...

Re: Royal Adelaide Show '12

I haven't been on any ghost train like attractions for years but am thinking of trying Hollywood Horrors. I do wonder what I'd get out of it? Totally agree with you Scorpion about Big Dipper. It's a great coaster for its type and kept in great condition too. I wonder whether it is used for corporate...

Re: Royal Melbourne Show '12

I guess the huge lines are bad news for prospective riders but fantastic for the operators who deserve a good show.

I wish the Sizzler still did Sydney! I remember Super Sizzler which was totally wild and Durkin's was pretty popular too. Super Sizzler is in Perth now?

Re: Wet N Wild Sydney

Yes I am, even though water parks aren't my favourite. Fingers crossed such a tourist attraction survives in Sydney. It should, so long as they keep rides up to date and introduce new ones every season. That was a big mistake the owners of Wonderland made in its final years. Luna Park only really ge...

Re: First upside down ride?

Good gosh I was terrified of upside down and most other types of rides when I was 6! I think I was 9 when I really started getting into them, around World Expo 88. That was around the time I first encountered the Super Loop too, not my first upside down ride as mentioned here but definitely the scar...

Still a little early but definitely better than 7:30 as advertised. I reckon the carnival will operate later than the specified time as it will be packed with people coming from the fireworks and last minute showbags I imagine.

Re: NEW ATTRACTION ANNOUNCED FOR 2013

I haven't been to Seaworld for years but always enjoyed it in the past. As for the new park in Sydney, it's been on the drawing board for a couple of years so it's good to hear it's finally being built. I'm not a huge fan of water parks myself but I'll definitely visit and have a go on the attractio...

Am still yet to try Buzzsaw but I've heard it's great.

The SDC Enterprise is inferior to the Huss one I think. The park had a good opportunity to put one in when they replaced the ride in 2000 but opted for SDC. These aren't being made any more I believe?

Re: No Limit at Ekka?

I guess having such world class theme parks as DW a short drive from Brisbane wouldn't be doing much for the Ekka either although both have coexisted since the 80's. While ride fanatics like ourselves see differences between a carnival and theme park experience, others might see the theme park as a ...
