There are a few out there still running (occasionally), one of which I rode only days ago at the Dandenong Show (run by Reardon's). Units that come to mind: Patton's (VIC) operated under the name of "SkyDiver" Laurie's Bell's(?) pretty sure, can someone confirm if they have one? Pickett's ...

Yep, it's made by Sobema (Belgium, no longer in business) and I believe at the time it was proclaimed to be one of the first rides to be 'computer designed' - it is a single trailer design unlike Thunderbolt or Matterhorn.

Thanks for posting those photo's Oz, and your review Hurricane. I found those photo's very interesting, given most of that equipment rarely makes it down to VIC. The last time I'd seen Force 10 was around 1993. Irronic that they had two Hurricanes there, when EKKA did not have one at all (as will Ro...

Great video's Darewing - that Dschunke is a crazy design - hard to tell even by looking at it how all those arms don't collide. As for that HUSS Troika custom job, I would say it has to be a main HUSS frame which has been re-designed and planted on a new floor etc. It looks like it has been raised a...

Boy, 4, injured in fall from Rainbow (Friday, June 9, 2006) - A 4-year-old boy was injured when he fell from a ride known as the Rainbow at the Dixie Landin' Amusement Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Witnesses say the boy fell about 20 feet and was knocked unconscious. The boy was hospitalized with ...

Yes, I second (or third) Flashdance - a stunning example of what an owner can do to make a success of a classic ride without spending extra on something newer - I've heard more than one observation that this has been a very successful ride at all shows, with high popularity. At the end of the day, p...

I am sceptical about the claim that the operator can control the amount of water - I can't recall splash canyon having any operator controlled "water cannons" - I would say the greatest factor would be the distribution of weight / amount of weight in each log. Kiwi, amazing about that stor...

My only gripe is that the little cursor when writing is exactly the same as the background, and therefore invisible. A tad annoying.

Good question, but (to an extent) you are talking chalk and cheese. The Mad Mouse has a character of its own (style of cars, and track, and the age of the design) The SDC / Pinfari Galaxy is more of a 'rollecoaster' and the main reason it's so common is due to its compact footprint versus length of ...

Kiwi, I've looked at Mondial's website, but it doesn't give a great deal of specifics, I would say it fits onto 3 trailers (possibly 4). It does require a small crane to attach the arms, counterweights and seats. As for it being customised for Australian vehicle length requirements, I'm not sure, bu...

TR: Philip Island (Space Roller debut) Video & Photo's

By coincidence, I ended up spending New Year's at a friend's holiday house on Philip Island. Needless to say, I was itching to get down to Cowes to check out what was set up, and try out Australia's latest (and perhaps largest) attraction. Russell Watkin's Mondial Space Roller, fresh off the ship fr...

Yes I see what you mean Princess, it is self-perpetuating.

I have heard very good things about that Capriolo 'Eclipse' - interesting that it is fan powered too, and seems surprisingly powerful!

OzShowKid, wow, intercom and a/c? Sounds like a premium wheel experience. This thing is portable? Very interesting about that Chance Zipper. You mentioned Eclipse, probably the single trailer high speed thrill ride by Fabbri, that thing is meant to be able to pull up to 5G's. Here are some photo's, ...

I think I'll have to plan a fishing / surfing trip, and throw in a ride or two while I'm there.

I disagree there, I think the Skymaster is a brilliant design, that looks every bit as modern now as it did back in 1969 when the first one of the Ferarri design debuted at Sydney Luna Park.

There is certainly something special and unique about the atmosphere of a show - sights, smells, sounds that can never be emulated in a more 'clinical' theme park. So there is definitely this factor that I enjoy, but I must admit, the rides will always be first and foremost as to the reason I would ...
