Sunshine Coast Show 2011 (Nambour)

Post by Steve07 »

Hey guys i visited the nambour show just recently (Sunday) and it wasnt really good to me, but most of the rides and games that turned up were different to what comes to our show here in Gympie and north of us, it looks like them rides that were there are from down south (new south wales), cause yeah ive never seen them.... there was alot of the Chants rides, Ferris Wheel looks really nice better then the one we have here, ours is Blue, that one was red.. but yeah and also there was Freestyle, never seen that ride, it looks really great, looks like its very new to the shows... usually i only see Extreme Speed at shows but yeah Freestyle was there and i see Chants owns that ride as well... but yeah wasnt really a great lineup in rides... there was two Cha Cha's their, i went on bothm they were alright, its like March's Big Whizzer really... still looks good.. though.
I do have photos of the rides that were there, so if you want to see them let me know.......

Post them up for sure mate, different rides are due to different runs, nambour is part of the lower run and gympie is part of the north run

Be good to see some photos, usually not a bad lineup. Did you have a try of the Power Surge?

Hi and i thought there were different runs, but still dont understand why the towns south near the border and ipswich get the my north run, wouldnt you think they would get the south run?? do the runs change every year or is it the same?? and TG yeah power Surge was there and ive never seen that ride ever, not at my show or any other show ive been to, it looked really great, lights were awesome and it looked like it was brand new.. and no i didnt go on the ride cause i didnt have time, i was on others... and the lineup i guess was okay but yeah that was my first time there and i dont know much about what rides go there or what but i guess the lineup was good.. wasnt many people there that day, i think most would of came the Friday and Saturday..

anyway ive got some pics of the show there in nambour of some of the rides and stuff, so yeah i hope you like them, let me know what you think of them, the links below this...

the towns close to the border have there shows in line with the north run, so sydney will finish and people make there way up stopping at hawksbury, dubbo, ipswich just to name a few, some other rides go to grafton and casino, one is the new england run and other is the coast run i think

Thanks for the photos, anyone know where the Shockwave was?

Yeh Power Surge does the lower run, that it's last show before coming back to Sydney to head into Luna Park for the school holidays. Better Amusement's have owned it for 5 years now but is always looking top notch, good to see they got the other 2 splats completed aswell on the light posts. Haha true redhot, took the words right outta my mouth

No idea where the Shockwave was, but considering Kamikaze was set up I assume Flarherty's didn't bother setting it up. On the other hand it appears that the Octopus has had a paintjob which mind you was really needed as that ride was looking like crap to put it bluntly. However it's now looking in top shape again.

Kamikaze has had the main tower painted and all the lights reglobed on the signs and the stars in the middle of the ride. As far as I am aware the arms and gondola's have not been repainted. IMO the lights look tacky with all the random colors and should have just been in a pattern like the Shockwave or Hangover.

hey guys thanks for the replys, yeah when i was there i looked at the detail of all the rides and Octopus looked bad in paint wise, didnt look like a good ride, was thinking of trying it cause ive never seen that ride ever but decided to not.... The Kamikaze was looking great though did look like it needed a paint on the arms and new lights other then that it looked awesome, a few weeks ago i showed you the Maryborough Show and A Kamikaze was there as well but that looked really new and lots of lights on it and great paint job, is that the north run ride and the nambour one the south run, is there two kamikazes in QLD???

Most of the rides i saw there, ive never seen at my show here... do you think our show here will ever get some good rides??

Do any of yous know what Charleville and Longreach in Western QLD get in rides and stuff every year when they have there show??

And to think that Octopus looked ALOT worse than it does in those pictures. From what I can see it appears to be in decent cosmetic condition in the pictures you posted.

As far as Kamikaze's go, you have 3 units that do the lower run. Watkins which is the one you saw here, Shockwave which is owned by Flarherty Family Amusements (owners of the Octopus) and Gills which owned the unit at maryborough. Gills only do shows after EKKA in QLD such as the Redland Bay Strawberry Festival whereas Flarherty's do shows like Pine Rivers, Redcliffe etc and Watkins do Crackerjack, Gladstone harbour festival and a few others.

Power Surge is operating at Luna Park Sydney at the moment and is going great guns. The only drawback is the complete lack of atmosphere due to the fact music is not allowed to be played at a decent volume in that area of the park. I never realised how much music plays a role in the total ride experience!

I understand Music Trip is there too but don't know who owns this unit.

Agreed funder, obviously they're hired to be in there and they have minimal overheads they have to pay.

The major holiday rides at LPS at the moment are Rock-n-tug, Music Trip and Power Surge. It's a pretty good deal too with $10.00 off unlimited rides passes bought online.

Ben how is the Ranger running since its mechanical overhaul, any noticeable difference to ride?

I think the Ranger has had a lot of down time since it was overhalled but when it does operate, it is as good as ever. The scenery is apparently very different with the ride surrounded by a moon with the passengers suspended upside down above it. All this makes no difference to me of course; the real interest for me is the mechanics and the feel of the ride experience. Huss rides were built to last!

Having been at Luna Park yesterday, I can say that the Ranger is running as good as ever along with Power Surge and Young's Music Trip. There was alot of interaction from the operators of the Music Trip, even getting a mexican wave going. Power Surge is also looking in top shape... one of my friends actually thought that the ride was brand new off the boat... a true credit to Joylands :)
