Australia's Best Themed (Well once best) Ride shut down!

Post by Hurricane »

I was on the MyFun website today, looking at buying one of the QLD VIP passes after my birthday this weekend. And I stumbled upon this on there sea world page...

"Bermuda Triangle is presently closed while we continue to develop new and exciting attractions at Sea World."

I honestly think Sea World is making a HUGE mistake by doing this. The park needs every single ride it can have to help aid the capacity that the park desperately needs. The ride was Australia's best themed ride in it's glory days between 1994 and 2008 and after that the ride just went down the gurgler. Not to mention it was almost ALWAYS the most popular ride at Sea World in peak time. I also know that the ride had no mechanical issues with the ride, it's more the attitude of "It's broken, we can't be bothered fixing it"

Realistically, to bring all the effects up to standard might have cost about 300 - 400 thousand dollars in total. They could have fixed the audio issues with that, found a better alternative to the pathetic fire effects that they used to replace the fire just before Jet Rescue opened. Hell they could have even added a few 3D effects to really ramp up the game, not to mention the advertising frenzy they could have had with it...

"After 16 years of Thrilling Audiences worldwide, the critically acclaimed Bermuda Triangle attraction at Sea World has undergone a half a million dollar overhaul to bring you this winter's hottest attraction. Get lost within the worlds biggest mystery, where it almost feels as though your actually stranded within the Triangle. With all new 3D Effects, this attraction is not to be missed this winter. And why not experience the mystery of the Bermuda Triangle with a QLD VIP pass... available on the MyFun website or by calling 133 FUN"

See... someone needs me as there new marketing director :P

I remember getting to SeaWorld a few months ago.... only to bloody see Bermuda was closed.... bit sad, from what I remember in 2001, it was a cool ride.... looks very eerie now all closed with the boats sitting out the front

yeah, warner village or really seems to have gone down the crapper since I last went in 2007. from reading other forums apparently in its final months it was really run down. Fire not working, the vanishing space ship not vanishing to even having the work lights on during normal operation! I find it amusing that sea world is doing this while dreamworld is only improving. I look forward to visiting dreamworld around christmas time and trying the new tower of terror.

and yes, what the hell were they thinking removing the pirate ship. A great family ride that had a high capacity... talk about bad management.
