Bowen Show has been cancelled due to rain, this is really not good news for the showmen who are currently on that run, Rockhampton was also not very good due to the rain, it was stated in the paper that the showmen will continue to hold a carnival in Bowen, hopefully the skies will lift.

This is not good at all, this industry certainly has its ups and downs in more ways than one.

As the late 'matron of the circus' Phyllis Ashton once said, you need the bad times to appreciate the good - the amusement industry sure is full of both.

Very disappointing. :( It's good no carnivals or shows are planned for Sydney in the near future; the recent rains would've caused them to be put off or at least the attendance rates would've been terrible. What we need is an indoor carnival! As silly as that sounds, some of those rides are more than capable of operating safely inside large buildings with high roofs. I remember once the Exhibition Centre at Darling Harbour hosted a carnival for a Mercedes function and the same building has Pavier's rides for the Variety Club Christmas party every year. Hearing the Hurricane going in an ehco building like that one is an unforgetable experience let me tell you!
