I have heard a Australian Showmen has purchased the ex Wittingslow Loop from John Short, and is currently working on it ready to bring back out.

Does anyone have any more info on this?

Cheers

Well Les Osbourne an Inderpendent Showmen was going to resurect the looper early last year but Les wanted John to take the Looper down to Bathurst show but John refused because then the Guild would see him as helping out the enemy kind of thing so that deal didn't happen. But I haven't heard anything about this. Who told you this kiwi?

Yes I know, but he wants to work on his own and not be with the Guild. He asks shows if the want an inderpendently run sideshow alley at shows like Moss Vale, Newcastle, Singleton, Bathurst etc. And he runs them only with his rides and then sometimes a few sub-contractors of his. Whereas with him as he's one company at the show, he offeres the unlimited rider sessions which the Guild can't do because they have a massive congregation of operators at shows. And he's the biggest threat to the Guild at the moment but luckily for the Guild, Les is only limited to a certain number of shows a year

Okay, I'm with ya now - are there many decent contracted grounds left?

Les is only limited to about 20-25 shows a year. But do you mean many grounds left for Les to take over?

Heres the shows that OFA Showstar have done in the past:
Blacktown
Moss Vale
Bathurst Royal
Newcastle
Singleton
Cessnock
Gosford
Queanbeyan
Mt Gravett
Tenterfield
Nabiac
Dungog
Morisset
Townsville

These shows are what they haven done in the past not just 2008. Hope this helps

wow good news for you Sydney-Siders. He seems to know what TLC these old classics require.

I went down to Rye and was very impressed with how ex-Durkins Hurricane was looking. He has certainly given it a new lease of life.

I also look forward to one day riding it (have never ridden a Super Loops)

I saw the Supaloop all racked up in John's yard last week on my way down to the show. The looper has since been moved down to a yard at Wilton near Picton and is going to be setup to see how the ride is running. Apparently it is still in good working order, just needs a new coat of paint, lights re-wired and just a few mechanical parts replaced/fixed. The ride should be up and working by September. Looking forward to seeing the ride. Just thought I'd give everyone an update.

Cheers
