Mr Deal or No Deal put it best last night, "Tough Show".
im sure it was very tough go chargin 9$ / 10$ a ride, operators can only blame them self's. You can go out and charge any amount of money, but all in all you are putting yourself out of the market charging those prices.

Nice to hear from you guys, was wondering where you's were but I know you were working at the show. Yeh, I was on the website and just about everything was $9-$10. That's a bit too much but I know Flashdance was $7 which is pretty good these days. I spose everyones trying to make the money to cover fuel to get back to the East coast. I don't see why op's charge so much. If they keep it cheaper, more people will ride and they'll probably make the same amount of money. But with it so expensive, they're turning people away from riding. I know Mega Drop is $10 which is over the top. So I only ride it at RES where it's $7. How much were the Showest rides going for?

Its called Profiteering , all they are concerned about is lining there pockets, they are going to kill the shows if they keep ripping people off. Seen a few peices on the news complaining about prices seen a few websites. These people are just ripping people off now. its gone beyond of making a fair profit for a fair days work

Definately Clay. I know an operator who owns a ride and he always keeps the ride at $6. He said he'd rather people get on and others watching see the ride operating rather than it just sitting there doing nothing. Lew Osbourne put in to have mega Drop at $10 at Sydney but the RAS said no, it'll be kept at $7. And look how well he went with it there. He was getting more than I think 200 drops per day at the show. Yes, it is a shame because this could start to kill the shows. And we do know how tough the Showmen are doing

Word is, the RAS subs his fuel bill for the Mega Drop and Haunted Hotel and he still went and upped the price of the MD to $12 for a day.
touchy subject there vee watch what you say, those sort of people do monitor these forums. But if he was charging 12$ for a shot on the MD that is fucking pathetic.
I know a lot of WA showmen have a 'vendetta' against Eastern Staters coming in on WA turf, however there would be no way the Perth Royal Show would fill the positions with just WA equipment.
Rides like the mega drop do draw crowds and is a highlite of the show.
$10 a ride - yes it is expensive and yes it should be cut down. The RAS should impose a limit on some rides - how they would delegate the right price could be difficult but I think it should be done - it is affecting all other exhibits including sideshows - which the majority were down from previous years.

All the amusement company's have to book a price in before the show starts, They are not allowed to go over that prices, but they can drop it if they want. So it all comes down to the RAS not accepting the initial prices.

That is truly a rip off, especially 4 Mega Drop for $12 for a day!! Was lookin on the Perth Show website and I saw the prices then and they r just over the top! In comparision to Melbourne, Easter and Ekka that is truly a rip off. I would not like to go there cuz it is sooooo dear!

Yes vee, alot of these big name showmen do read these forums. But yeh, with the RES, and every other show they have to book in a price for what they'll charge for the period of the show. But Lew puts in to have the drop at $10 but the sideshow alley organisers give the response no so they have to go with $7 or $8. I can see why the WA op's have a thing with the Eastern state op's, because they never come over here anymore but then the East Coast op's go over th WA. So the WA op's think they're doing the right thing, leaving the East coast op's to do the East Coast shows and the WA op's to do the WA events. But then the East Coast op's come over for the royal and I can see why the WA op's don't really like it. But it is good in a way that the East op's do come over because they supply some good gear to entertain the Perth show

mega drop was $10 at the maitland show this year. i was stooped enogh to ride it, but its only because i had 10 bucks left and thought, eh why not.
its a good ride tho. but, it was $50 for unlimited drops at lunapark last christmas holidays, so pretty much, yeah. $10 is a extreme rip off.
STILL, all the prices at maitlands show was expencive.. i rode topgun a few times because it was the cheapest there. it was my first time on topgun this year. i really liked it, now i can see why you like it so much adam! haha. much better than HUSS rangers. phht, slow pieces of junk they are.

Paulie, Huss rangers are great machines. They are completly different when you compare it to the Kamikaze type rides. The ride actually goes pretty fast but its just that the one at Luna Park has been slowed down alot because of neighbours complaining.
Huss rangers, once they reach their top speed, they keep close to the same speed when doing a 360 degree revolution. So when they go over the top, they were made to create a weightlessness feeling while riding and that's the unique thing about them. And not to mention the engineering and power that these rides and the rainbow have too. The Top Gun is completly different or any single-arm Kamikaze.
But back on the Perth show, did anyone manage to get some photos?

I don’t have a problem with Lew Osborne or any other eastern states based operator, certainly not a vendetta. What I do have a problem with, is when people try and claim that we couldn't have a show without them or that the eastern states operators do WA shows out of the kindness of their heart. They are just businessmen, running their businesses.
