Yep Supa Sizzler won't be there. Would be interesting to see Pirates Revenge in the middle of the midway, and I think maybe one of the Ghost Trains, probably Halloween out of the 3 to get the boot aswell with it loosing its spot at Sydney this year. And yeh I'd say Claw will go with that not being at Sydney this year too.

I have never been to EKKA, sadly. I think I have missed the best years from what I can tell, like with most capital shows. I will have to wait until September for my go on the new KMG ride... I can't wait for it!

Hey everyone, been a little while but you should hear lot more of me now in the lead up to the ekka!!

I reckon Taipan will go! My guess is Crazy Coaster will take Taipan's spot and Pirates revenge will sit somewhere in the middle. Starship will also go, (but Durkin's have a fair bit of history with the Ekka, so will be interesting) I don't think claw should go at all, such a good ride!! But it is looking old and tired. I wish super sizzler would get canned, but something tells me it will stay, Otherwise there would be not enough family style rides on the grounds. Hangover may struggle to hold its spot. I also think one of the extreme rides will lose its spot (with XXL, Insanity, SPEED, No Limit) I think one of them may not get a spot... sad, but I think it was really pushing it with the three of them last year.

Pirates Revenge - Taipan

Star Flyer - Wave Swinger

Rock'n Roll - Starship 200

XXL - - - - ?

Shorts, Coney Fairs and another one. I personally don't think Speed will go. They do provide very different sensations though, I do think Insanity might get the boot after all the issues it's had.

Speed and No Limit are very different. You may see Short's new track on the midway this year if their track usually goes, they'll probably put their new track on instead of their older one.

Force you could maybe be right about Taipan but it pulls alot of people. And Supa Sizzler definately won't be there, I think Insanity may go and I reckon Hangover will stay because there are no other types of Kamikaze rides that do Ekka except if TPA's gets back on.

That mean's none of Bell's gear will be going then, unless they have a few joints or kids rides there

That is such a shame, It seems hardly worth going with no no limit!! but 4 extreme thrill rides Brisbane just doesn't have the market to support them all, actually i don't think anywhere could have all four. It makes sense as Bells only had one site last year, and they have a huge way to come all the way from out far western qld shows they do. But I am guttered. Would have preferred Speed to disappear... not a huge fan.

TPA's Kamikaze should come back, it only had small issue last year that stopped it from staying. Just a question of whether RNA will forgive it?? Actually is it up to the RNA? or is it up to the guild?

It's fully up to the RNA. I personally thought Insanity would have got the boot over No Limit. Especially after all the issues it has had in the past.

As Hurricane said, it is totally up to RNA, all ride operators have to apply to get their gear on the ground.

They have too much control!! I think they need one of us working for the RNA... We'd show them what they should be kicking off/letting back on. I'm sure we could manage to get TURBO a spot - and a Hurricane. Less dogems, and no Bahn Raupen!! No sling shot either, thats just a waste of space/too expensive. And don't get me started on Mega Flop!

Feel better now Force, phew, this forum is read by lots of people who are in positions that can make these decisions, sometimes what you and I may think, come second to how much a ride can actually bring in, in money terms, each rides tickets are weighed, so there is an accurate, (we hope) measure of how many people are riding these rides, which is what it comes down too, if a ride continuously performs well at a capital, that should be the yard stick imo, would I like to be able to have a say as to what should be on the midway, you betcha :D

Yes it does PNC, I have loved the lights ever since I saw it the first time in Syd, but then as a ride, I cannot answer.

This is from Ben, he cannot access AAF on his computer system in the Solomons, here is his response back to me regarding his thoughts on Ekka:- :D

interesting Ekka chat as usual. No Limit not
going this year? I can hardly believe it and of course I hope it isn't
true. I would've thought Insanity would've lost its spot considering
the previous issues but I do know it's extremely popular when it is
running properly or at least it was in Adelaide last year. Extremely
intense and scary ride for sure. I also can't wait to hear about the
new KMG thrill ride; hopefully it'll go to Pavier's Carnival in
gosford this Christmas or something so I can ride it when I'm back in
Australia on holidays.

Raupen Bahn is a very bumpy rough ride.... But, in saying that, there is something about that ride that 100% captures the essence of a truly "German" Ride... it just oozes european class!
