My Videos

Post by Top Gunner14 »

Hey all, I started doing some videos of some of the rides. Firstly I've uploaded a video of the Tumble Bug at Luna Park Sydney. I have another 3 videos to upload soon which are:

Ranger-Luna Park Sydney
Power Surge-Joylands Better Amusement Hire
Hurricane-Joylands Better Amusement Hire

Heres the link to the Tumble Bug video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPf_TqQb94c

I tried my best with the quality and filming and this is my first video and will try my best to get more at shows/events etc. Anyway enjoy!

Cheers

Nice clear video! Thanks Top Gunner. While watchin it though it dawned on me why I'm not into parks!! An it's cause there is no rider interaction at all... An they don't have to be the people hve already paid to get into park! The competitveness of a travelling show is what keeps me hooked an dedicated to our awesome, top quality touring rides. Why do park operators have to be so lazy!!!?

Good vids TopGunner. I like how you always capture the ride from start to finish. Do you think the people on that planet-wheel felt ripped off it didn't start spinning as soon as the other two?

The Tumble Big Princess was referring to was the original at the park that this is named after. It was something like this:

Thanks for the comments, I didn't think I'd get that many good comments seeing as though its only my first video. At least people enjoy them I guess. Yeh I've got the Ranger video uploading at the moment which should be up in a few hrs :x

Yeh its funny watching the ride when the 2 wheels start spinning and the other one stays idle. All the kids look around like "what, how come we're not going" then it starts spinning while the other two arms are already starting to lift.

And geez princess, I'm not that old to have a video of the original Tumble Bug  Were there even video cameras invented back when this ride was around?

And I'm only using my camera for the videos too. Great camera was shocked to see how good the quality was. Same as using a cheap video camera I think.

Lol alright. Here's my Ranger video now. Sorry about the sound in this, the stupid Spider's cheap sterio in the background can be heard and sounds awful. But other than that it looks alright, anyway enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lh9um1w888A

It has often been on the Sydney Luna Park wish-list, so I'd say it is related [vaguely]

Yeh true Zamperla, but a setup video should be good. Anyway heres my video of Joyland's Hurricane, the picture quality seems a bit bad but I think it may be the video still processing. Anyway here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_VdLMy0r67I

Will upload the Power Surge vid tomorrow

I always enjoy watching and hearing footage of a hurricane - you can really sense the motion. It sounds less muffled than when I last saw it at Luna Park a few years back (which is a good thing of course)

Good shot there Top Gunner, the only fault I've found is in your data and amazingly HUSS hasn't picked up on it....especially on the Troika and Ranger. Hurricane, well done job on it, as we know anything with large degree of movement is difficult to film clearly. Keep up the good work... can't wait for your next one

And lastly but not least is Joyland's Power Surge. Shame when I recorded this, Miles who usually operates the ride really well wasn't operating so there was another bloke operating who didn't use the jingles/sounds or any of the playbacks. Did the count-downs himself and tried singing or making the tune of the Star Wars theme himself which sounded stupid IMO. Shame about that but here it is, will get a better video next time.

Enjoy

A good ride op is one that uses a combination of both jingles and voice IMO.

There was a certain ride at RES this year that had an over-use of Dutch-english voice-overs "please exit to the left of the ride" "please line up for the next ride" etc. - a real voice would've gone a long way.

Mmm... I hear them so much latley, even really old school rides like Hurricane's use the Jingles now. When I work a Joint I only use 3 jingles. Before the race starts I have a race sound go off. Then when it starts I use the "Arabian Derby" jingle. I use the race one again as the first horse passes the 200m home stretch. And finally "That's the way Uh Huh... I Like it" when the race finishes. Throughout the race though I do commentate. Just ask Princess or Paulie what i'm like working the game :P

Yeh when I work the Top Gun, I do the combination of the jingles and me spruking. I've never just used jingles full a full cycle on the ride. Gets very annoying, and it does sound better if the operator calls people in to buy tickets, to scream etc
